PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

This is a PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT issued March 18, 2008 at 9:13am.

The Village of Pleasant Prairie Regular Board Meeting (March 17, 2008) will be posted on YOUTUBE ( http://www.youtube.com/PleasantPrairieWI ) by end of business today. That is of course if I can break away from the latest SpongeBob Squarepants episode.

This service was expedited so that ABSENT board member Steve Kumorkiewicz can actually see what happened last night at his Board Meeting. Note to Steve: We missed you, and I was even wearing your favorite Green Bay Packers hat. We hope you recover soon.

This service was also expedited so that ABSENT gadfly-identifier Asst. District Attorney Dick Ginkowski CAN have the option of watching the board activity in a taped video delayed format. Perhaps he could have watched the meeting live last night from wherever he was, but since that desirable (but technically not currently possible) option is not available, it is hoped that RAG DU JOUR will have the opportunity to see what happened anyway.

To all other viewers -- The meeting will be posted in it's entirety as normal. Now, what St. Patrick's party was that? Got into some bad cabbage, Dick, Steve?

NEWS FLASH: BOARD DISSENT EXISTS. Trustee #3 Clyde (On Your Side) Allen actually did. (Sorry Monica, you are no longer alone in this distinction). He voted against (3-1) a Zoning Text change that would have FORCED gas station convenient store operators to LOCK UP all outside ICE and LP GAS offerings. The original recommendation was changed 'wisely' to not include the LOCKING UP part, but he still voted against it. Does this mean he voted for it, before he voted against it?

Maybe the Village should post scorecards on their webiste for each Trustee and the President on how each voted for each Agenda item. Then one could quickly determine, without having to slog through the Meeting Minutes, how each voted. Just a thought that I'm sure would cost thousands of dollars to perform and will be ridiculed.

Actually I got into some bad broccoli in Oregon Saturday! Ruined the weekend to have a sick tummy but the weather out there was still better (no snow at lower elevations and flowers were out).

I'd check out the You Tube but I already had enough gastric pain for the week.

Alex...Alex...Alex...
You are far more entertaining and comical than SpongeBob could ever be.

Village People said...

and much smarter than any anonymous

Anonymouse, Anonymouse, Anonymouse,

I am SO HAPPY to provide you with a few moments of levity each day.

YOUR happiness is my reward.

Beating Spongebob is quite an accomplishment.

Next up: Magilla Gorilla.

PleasantPrairieWI said...

RAG,

Hope you are fully recovered from the Oregonian broccoli. Bush 1 was on to something, wasn't he?

Just to let YOU know the meeting in its entirety is available now on YOUTUBE.

It would be so much simpler for YOUR friends to put this on CH25 (and much higher quality too).

As you apparently were either indisposed here locally or in balmy Oregon, I hope you can see now the benefit of recorded meetings too. I am not against LIVE, but lets not make the 'perfect the enemy of the good'. Your buddy, "On Your Side", looked awfully uncomfortable, but he actually dissented!

The ballfields will be in the light, the citizens will remain in the dark, and squad cars remain without cams -- choice made -- kind of like Obama, huh?

.Is Steve ever really there?

Anonymous said...

Steve on a bad day makes more sense usually than Alex does on a good one.

Anonymous said...

Glad someone can understad him.

Anonymous said...

You're right about Alex. If he had any brains he would delete you.

Village People said...

It sounded like Serpe was saying he didn't talk about Police car webcams until some later time but not during the budget discussions? I guess I don't remember him mentioning anything about Police cams until the discussion about videotaping came up. When did he say that as far as after budget?

Glad to hear Steinbrink try to explain his comments to Bob Babcock, Sr. Bob has always been a gentleman in his comments and has given kudos too. Beware of angering "The Gadfly" (or should that be Godfly....father?) :-)

RAG said...

Hey, be nice to my gadfly homie!

SSDD. Nothing new here...move along.

Village People said...

What a retarded statement.

PleasantPrairieWI said...

Dear SSDD Anonymouse,

Your 'offering' again reveals much. First off, you must be a FLY. Yes, a fly, as you seem unable to keep yourself away from what you claim is here. Get it? Or does your 2nd grade logic teacher need to explain it to you?

I really don't want to see you go away, but PLEASE if you are going to add something, make it worth everyone's while. Even surely-delete-worthy-by-RAG stuff will be allowed here -- just to allow YOU the voice you apparently don't have elsewhere.

You must not be familiar with an old Ukrainian saying, "leave the sh-- alone, otherwise it will stink again". I guess I don't follow that advise too well myself either -- see we have a lot in common!

Alex

PS. For you humor seekers, was that funny enough for you today?

Look at all these comments carefully. There is not one "reel" or worthwhile comment. Maybe this is the "reel" truth, Alex, you and your cronies have nothing worthy to add to the village and that is now "visible" and that is the "TRUTH".

Anonymous said...

.Why don't you watch the video from this week and review Serpe's comments about Police cams, then tell us who is telling the TRUTH.

Anonymous said...

.Your blog is a complete success, it's us anonymous' that are the failure.

Anonymous said...

.You know why they don't have money for cameras and police cams, because they had to put computers in the garbage trucks so they'd know who paid for what for their pick-up service.

Cronies? You make me laugh. I guess someone is finally feeling better.

After watching the March 17th board meeting on YouTube (thank you, Alex), I have come to a few conclusions:

1. Bob Babcock Sr. is a dumb ass.
2. Bob Babcock Jr. is a perfect example of the apple not falling far from the tree.
3. The gene pool in the Babcock family is pretty shallow.
4. Creating an ordinance to require locks on ice machines is truly Orwellian.
5. Ditto additional ordinances about LP gas.

Come on folks. Let's concentrate on running the village, not whether you are upset about recording Village Board meetings and running them on Ch 25. I don't have cable, so I could give a rip.

Bob Babcock Jr. said...

It's ironic you would call my dad and me dumbasses while calling the village orwellian. If you hadn't called me a dumbass I'd explain it to you.

PleasantPrairieWI said...

Bob Jr.

I am glad to see that you have addressed that last sorry comment.
That was another example of the hatred coming from those that simply cannot stand anyone disagreeing with the Good Ole Boys approach.

One kind of wonders (regularly for me) why they are so willing to be ugly. I keep thinking how lucky I am to not be so uncertain about my convictions to be able to stand any criticism.

Sometimes I even find some 'good' in criticism of my ideas, and I even sometimes see fit to change my mind. Why, therefore, are they so unwilling to hear other opinions.

I hope you don't ask me to DELETE that comment, but will if you request so.

I would prefer to leave it so that others can see what kind of nastiness exists out there.
Please let me know your preference.

Alex

Anonymous said...

HA! You're not bright enough to explain it.

PleasantPrairieWI said...

Anonymous,

What are we doing BLOGGING eachother at 10:10p on Friday?

That's a rhetorical question by the way.

Now, I completely missed commenting on the reference to Orwellian. I, like Bob Jr, am motivated (and not) to want to engage you in this (or not). Do concepts like DOUBLETHINK mean anything to you? I studied George some years ago, and frankly never made the connection between Orwellian concept and what we have at Village Hall today. You really stumbled on something!

We kind of had an Orwellian experience this week with the discussion on POLICE CAMS. DOUBLETHINK in practice. "We didn't talk about it until mid-year", but "it's in the budget as NOT-Recommended", therefore it was discussed, but we prefer to think that it wasn't, so let's just say it isn't. Sound familiar???

NOW WE KNOW THEIR PLAYBOOK!

Bob Babcock Jr. said...

Alex,
It's fine to leave the dumbass comment from the anonymouse. I like getting views from all sides anyway. The anonymouse who called me a dumbass lacks courage and doesn't deserve my respect. Still, even the nameless should be heard.
ANONYMOUSE:
Your comeback that I'm not bright enough to explain it sounds like a cry for help so I'll show pity on you and explain it. Here is the definition of orwellian from wikipedia: "The adjective orwellian describes the situation, idea, or societal condition that George Orwell identified as being unfavourable to the welfare of a free-society. It connotes an attitude and a policy of control by propaganda, misinformation, denial of truth, and manipulation of the past." One of our arguments for video is to have an accurate record of the meetings. It's "ironic" that you would call us dumbasses for trying to get our village to become more transparent while at the same time you call the village orwellian. As Alex has pointed out several times, the village board is guilty as charged. Your comment "Let's concentrate on running the village" make me wonder if you are not a board member or staff. If you're not a board or staff member, you aren't charged with running the village. Clearly, you don't want us paying attention to how the village is being run either. I would also like to offer advise some to you. Not that you really had any credibility to begin with, but if you're going to call someone a dumbass you shouldn't sound like one when doing so.

Methinks thou doth protest too much.

That's the best you can do?

Why write 3 paragraphs, like you dummies, when one line will do?

Zing.

Bob Babcock Jr. said...

Anonymous,

If you're going to quote Queen Gertrude get it right dumbass.

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

Bob Babcock Jr. said...

Anonymouse,

You were mildly amusing for a while, but I’ve grown tired of you. If you ever decide to “grow some” and approach me with your name, I’d be happy to again kick your ass six ways to Sunday. Until then, bye.

Anonymous said...

Yawn.

Anonymous said...

Now here's a real intelligent and mature response:
“grow some” and approach me with your name, I’d be happy to again kick your ass six ways to Sunday.
My hero!

Bob Babcock Jr. said...

I have always said I like to hear both sides and I have to agree it was wrong for me to say that to the anonymouse. I should and will hold myself to a higher standard than the coward who called me a dumbass.

So, cowardly anonymouse, I am sorry for letting myself fall to your level and calling you names back. I should realize you may suffer from low self-esteem and feel the need to call people names while hiding your identity. If it makes you feel better about yourself, you go right ahead and keep calling me names. It's okay.

To the anonymous person who pointed out the error of my ways, thank you.

Bobby:

Thanks for your apology...accepted. To tell you the truth, I was getting scared. I thought maybe you'd get your daddy to fight for you...then I'd really be in trouble.

I bought some MiracleGrow today...so I can "grow some". Wonder if Menards will take it back.

Whew...I can sleep tonight without worrying about an a** kicking.

By the way, six ways from Sunday? What does that mean? I usually go to church on Sunday. I guess you don't.

Bob Babcock Jr. said...

I'm sorry I scared you. You really had nothing to worry about because nobody knows who you are. I guess if I see someone walking around with green stuff growing from their ears, I'll know it's you. six ways from sunday means to approach a task with zeal. It also can mean the six days after sunday in which case I could go to church if I chose to. However, we already have trouble getting along while talking politics. Let's not start talking religion too.

HIGHLY OFFENSIVE TO OUR FAMILY. I CAN'T SPEAK FOR OTHERS BUT YOU NEED TO APOLOGIZE! SHAME ON YOU BUT WHY SHOULD I EXPECT ANYTHING BUT INSENSITIVE, RUDE AND MEAN REMARKS FROM YOU.
