"CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG?"

The last couple of postings have resulted in some interesting remarks representing clearly both sides of the DO YOU LOVE OUR VILLAGE LEADERS or NOT factions. There clearly is no love lost between these 2 camps.

Instead of taking shots at eachother, lets try some constructive criticism? The goal of the YOUTUBE website and this BLOG is to create a 'conversation room' for those that like and don't like whats going on - this is in tandem with a CHANCE (FINALLY) for those that don't or can't come to meetings to have a source to see what is going on. Village leaders have a simple, available, and nearly cost free fix to solve this problem and they know it.

Political leaders are in a different position than John Q Public. They have positioned themselves (via elections) to sit as representatives of the jurisdiction they are elected from. As a result, they need to be willing and accepting of differing viewpoints and YES criticism. If they are not able to deal with this, then perhaps they are in the wrong place and should returned to private citizenry. The problem is that our array of leaders at Village Hall expect to be loved and above reproach.

This is criticism. If you 'conspiracy critics' can take a step backwards and deal with facts, you will see that the criticism that you so hate are really just viewpoints on how to make things better. The government of Pleasant Prairie belongs to ALL the citizens not just the 53% or so that support the current board this past Spring.

If you have been paying attention, you will know exactly who is managing the co-efforts of the YOUTUBE site and this BLOG. Please keep the content of your postings to village matters -- citizens AGAIN have the right to criticize their government and/or how it functions (it happens all the time at all levels of government - Pleasant Prairie is NO exception).

If an elected member acts like a rubber stamping follower then they will be criticized.

If an elected board cedes its authority to a hired hand then they will be criticized.

If an elected member has little to say except how great things are and how great of a job everybody is doing they should expect to be criticized.

What this has to do with anybodies garbage is irrelevant. If they can't stand the heat they should get out of the kitchen.

NOW, who is running against Kumorkiewicz and Serpe in April ??????????

"Can't we all get along?"

Gee, you're a Clinton flip-flopper with that title coupled with your last line: "Now, who is running against Kumorkiewicz and Serpe?".

In the interest of "getting along", shouldn't you be asking about the qualifications, experience, and voting records of Steve and Mike before you decide whether you're voting for them? Whatever happened to fair and balanced?

Alex, you're proving again and again that you have your own agenda, and that you really don't like what goes on at the Village Hall as long as you're not on the board. Your tactic of making up a "scandal of the day" just doesn't sit well with the average taxpayer. You've cried "wolf" 100 too many times.

Dear anonymous,

Now that you have 'figured' out who I am, wouldn't it be just courteous of you to fill all of us in on who you are. My guess is that once that is revealed, all will make sense.

I am very clear about the 99+% lock step voting records of both SK and MS -- and that is part of the problem. Besides having been there way too long -- please tell us what YOU think their qualifications are -- since you brought it up.

Their experience is that they have been there a long time and supported the administration. Its easy to do that.

Your perspective on fair and balanced seems to be skewed so far that when you get a taste of it, you find it troubling.

Answer this question: Are you ready to run against either one of them. Sure sounds like YOU have a lot of opinions and like to argue, so how about it?

About AGENDAS: YOU don't have an agenda? When I was being attacked by the "TRUTH" squad in Spring, why were you not out their complaining about fairness?

I think its pretty clear that I believe a lot needs to be changed in terms of how business is done. That has not changed in 2 years. I have been consistent with that.

Call it what you wish, I call it a problem, and you call it a 'scandal'. Again this betrays your narrow viewpoint of what is right, and only confirms my overall viewpoint that if someone disagrees with the status quo, instantly that person is the ENEMY. It doesn't and didn't have to be that way IF there was some willingness to be open-minded.

Alex,
I bet these garbage sifting insiders are one and the same as the Truth About Pleasant Prairie PAC. Keep an eye on them as they are apparently keeping an eye on you.
Calling you like Clinton should be a complement in their book of ethics. Or was that Kerry? Sorry you are not Kerry.

Alex,

If this is your blog, all I can say is that you're making a fool of yourself here. I always thought you were smarter than this.

I guess it's your right but don't expect to be taken seriously. My advice is to eliminate this blog completely right now and then start over if you must, but next time elevate the discourse so that people don't have to be embarrassed about supporting and counting you as a friend. All you're doing here is providing future ammunition to your political enemies.

And, no I am not going to tell you who I am either and don't be surprised when most won't. I choose to forgo the embarrassment of people knowing that I participated in this nonsense at all. You can just call me dissappointed.

This is what I truly think. Respond if you like, but I won't be back to read it.

To the anonymous person who is trying to appeal for decency, and appears to be concerned about my political interests -- Thank you.

I sincerely "thank you", and I trust you comments are sincere also.

You indicated that you will not return to see how your ideas were handled, so I write anyway so that those that do manage to read this will understand my perspective.

When I made my poorly organized run for County Board in 2004, I learned a lot about Pleasant Prairie. My motivations for running for county board were understood by those I talked to, but almost universally I heard folks say, "forget the county board, its the village that needs help".

So I did, and surprized many by the victory. This should have been a wake-up call for those remaining. But instead of getting the 'message', the voters were ridiculed for not being informed and confused. The following 2 years were satisfying but also painful at the same time. Because I was not willing to fall in line, and I was willing to struggle for what I believed to be right, I was labeled the ENEMY. This was NOT necessary, but it happened.

2 years later, I could not see another 2 years of more of the same, so I rolled the dice and nearly knocked off the big kahuna after a vicious campaign season.

I attacked ideas, and they attacked me. Think about it for a while and I believe you will see what I mean.

So where are we today. I 'took' 6 months OFF to see how the new board functioned. There have been some bright moments in terms of independent thinking by Trustee Yuhas -- I commend her efforts. She lost, but she tried, and perhaps in some little way she understands how it felt to be in that position. But, also unfortunately, a lot has remained the same. Apparently the demand for changed from 47% of the voters was again written off as uninformed and confused.

I will not repeat everything already written, but today as Citizen Alex, I am limited to Citizen Comments (at which I am repeatedly admonished to 'wrap it up' by Village Clerk Jane R.).

When I inquired recently about the status of the Abbott project, I was criticized for my "prurient interests", and got no response. Only 2 weeks later, when it was expedient for "prurient" Mr. Pollocoff to USE Abbott for his argument he saw fit to drone on about it.

I certainly am not out to make a circus of things, but this IS an effective way to communicate without being limited to 3 minutes, and even more importantly a sounding board for all opinions. I truly believe that understanding all opinions IS important in sound decision-making.

TO ALL READERS: THE GOAL IS TO EXPOSE, EXPLAIN, AND ADDRESS THE ISSUES IN PLEASANT PRAIRIE. SOME ARE NOT SO NICE, AND WILL BE MET WITH EXTREME DERISION. PERHAPS THE VOLUME OF THE DISSENT REFLECTS THE ANGST OF THE CRITICIZED. I HAVE SAID BEFORE THAT I ADMIRE A LOT OF WHAT OCCURS IN PLEASANT PRAIRIE AND MY VOTING RECORD SHOWED SIGNIFICANT EVIDENCE OF THAT, BUT I ALSO BELIEVE THAT NO ORGANIZATION IS SO PERFECT AS TO BE EXEMPT FROM CRITICISM. I HOPE THE OPEN-MINDED READER IS WILLING TO BE OBJECTIVE AND MAKE UP THEIR MINDS FOR THEMSELVES.

To anonymous, I again appreciate your concern, and really hope that you do contact me so that hopefully I can get a full understanding and perhaps I can better explain mine to you (I understand your reluctance to be named here).

Alex has a sense of humor.
It seems as though the village is doing just fine, except for raising our taxes. The cafe was a wonderful idea with another planned. I am convinced that it was really necessary to raise taxes. I'll take it that this is a one time hit, check with me in a year.
How can you suggest to get along when things appeared fine until you and Rennar decided it was time to start your campaigns? Pleasant Prairie is not the laughing stock anymore. Gee, what part was swapped out for another - you. You have a sense of humor but no political sense. But keep the jokes coming.

PleasantPrairieWI said...

What campaigns are you talking about????

It is a sad day when somebody says everything is fine except the are raising our taxes.

It's kind of like talking about a used car and saying -- the tires are bald, the wipers don't work, the transmission is shot, and the interior is dirty, but other than that its a great car! Where is the money from growth that is supposed to cover the incremental costs of government?

Perhaps you should start a club at village hall along with a recent Citizen Comments speaker who VOLUNTEERED to have his Clean Water Utility Fee doubled -- "Stick-me-with-more-taxes club".

How is that for humor?

Rennar wants to see the Good Old Boys dig themselves out of their own mess, the one that they created on their own. 47% of the voters wanted something different but were out PAC'd. Let them dig their own graves. Just wait until next year when growth can't support what they are spending.

I don't have cable, so I don't get Channel 25. I don't want my tax dollars wasted on putting this on TV. You're doing a great job putting it on YouTube. Keep doing that and save our tax dollars for our streets.

I bet Alex will run.

NO BET! Alex can't stand not being in the spotlight. That's why he's taping the Village meetings...so he can get himself in the videos. Ever notice that he always speaks when he's taping? Must like the sound of his own voice...

Nice hat, Alex.

"A person of limited qualifications who goes out of his way to gain the attention of various media outlets; a person who has a psychological need to get into TV, radio or print." Sure sounds like Alex to me. That my friends is the definition of a media whore.

Forget running, I bet he wins!

Is Tiahnybok running against Kumorkiewicz? Now the citizens can vote for the foreign sounding one. Nobody can understand what either of them is talking about anyway.
